Kinders and The Dot

Ok so as usually I have started my school year off with inspiration from Peter H. Reynolds and The Dot book for my entire school BUT this year it is just the Kinders. They are reading along with me and discussing all of the different ways you can make a "dot". How using different supplies such as markers versus colored pencils will look differently and what if you use them together? We also are choosing to use a dot sticker first on our paper and then draw around that dot to make concentric circles. So lots of discussion and lots of experimenting, hitting those "Create standards". the students will create as many dot pages as they wish. Some will spend the entire art class on one page making one very intricate dot and others will make 10 pages of all different very expressive dots. Finally I will make a copy of "This is My Dot inspired Book" worksheet and staple all of their creations together to create their very own Dot Book. Happy Dot Day everybody and enjoy!
