1st Graders Cave Art (Dinosaurs)

Ok so cave art and dinosaurs do not really go together BUT wait I have found a way to get those little first graders so excited about an art project that they almost pee their pants!
First of all their curriculum says that they have to know about living things and their habitats...so pat on the back for cross curricular, second there was a true artist who studied and created sculptures of dinosaurs: Waterhouse Hawkins!!!!
So I created this powerpoint to guide those little boogers through the idea of "What if Dinosaurs were in cave art?"...
My Dinosaur Cave Art PPT

We first "dug" for dino bones and teeth. I took some bins filled them with cat litter adn then submerged plastic dinosaurs, eggs I had made from metallic sculpey, and (shark) teeth into the litter. I gave each students a large very soft paint brush that was now their excavation tool. They slowly started to dig into their bins and you heard I found something all over the classroom. This happened for about 3-4 minutes then we gathered our finds and returned to the carpet where we discovered we would talk about dinosaurs today.
We went through the ppt, watched a video drawing a Stegosaurs and ended lesson 1.

Day 2 we reviewed, read  "The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins, drew our chosen dino, and then traced it in Sharpie. Finally we added colored chalks and our signature handprint. Enjoy!!!

If you want to receive a beautiful and interesting presentation, you need to follow one main advice, slides should be interesting for attracting attention at the first stage, you can see here Suburban Manor Template. Your slides should carry only key thoughts that will help you reveal the theme of the presentation.
