Kinder's Dancing Self Portraits

Kinder's Dancing Self Portraits

We read Giles Andreae's book "Giraffes Can't Dance" and Tony Mitten's "Down By the Cool of the Pool" (both illustrated by Guy Parker Rees) . We talked about how the illustrator gave us clues to show the animals were dancing. We saw moving legs and arms and we saw "action lines". After reading the books we played a couple of rounds of Freeze Dance and each time the music stopped and we were "frozen" we looked around to see everyone's body positions. In our drawings we were to do a self portrait dancing. So we studied how we look in a mirror and then added a moving body to our portraits. We also added clues to show we were dancing like music notes, radios, dance floors,
etc... Too much fun!!!!
